"ASTM A182 F316 SO Flange" refers to a slip-on (SO) flange with a neck that complies with the ASTM A182 standard and is made of F316 stainless steel. The following is an introduction to it:

Standard Specifications
ASTM A182: This standard specifies various indicators for forged alloy steel and stainless steel flanges for high temperature, covering the chemical composition, mechanical properties, manufacturing process and inspection methods of the materials, etc., to ensure that the products can be used reliably under high temperature and other working conditions.
Dimensions follow standards: Usually matched with standards such as ASME B16.5, which clarifies detailed dimensional parameters such as outer diameter, inner diameter, thickness, bolt hole layout, etc. for nominal sizes ranging from 1/2 inch to 24 inches or even larger, and different pressure levels.

Material Properties
Chemical Composition: In F316 stainless steel, the chromium content is generally 16.0% - 18.0%, the nickel content is 10.0% - 14.0%, the molybdenum content is 2.0% - 3.0%, and the carbon content does not exceed 0.08%. The addition of molybdenum makes its corrosion resistance better than F304.
Mechanical properties: It has good strength and toughness, with a yield strength of not less than 205MPa, a tensile strength of not less than 515MPa, and an elongation of not less than 30%. It can withstand certain pressure and impact loads.
Corrosion resistance: With the synergistic effect of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, it performs well in a variety of corrosive environments, especially for media containing chloride ions. It has stronger corrosion resistance, which is better than F304 stainless steel.
Machinability: It can be made into flanges that meet different engineering needs through a variety of processing methods such as forging, rolling, welding, and cutting. It has good processing performance and can adapt to various complex manufacturing processes.

Structural features
Neck flat welding connection: SO flange has a short neck. After the pipe is inserted into the inner diameter of the flange, it is welded on the outside of the flange. The neck can enhance the strength and rigidity of the flange, which is convenient for installation and centering. It is suitable for pipeline connections with relatively low pressure and large pipe diameter.
Flange surface form: Common forms include raised face (RF) and flat face (FF) to meet different sealing requirements. For example, the RF surface is suitable for most general working conditions and can provide good sealing.

Application fields
Seawater treatment and marine engineering: Due to its strong corrosion resistance to chlorine-containing media such as seawater, it is often used in the pipeline system of seawater desalination equipment and offshore platforms, which can effectively resist the corrosion of seawater.
Chemical and petrochemical: It is widely used in various chemical processes, petroleum refining and transportation, such as pipeline connections for processing corrosive chemical raw materials and petroleum products, which can ensure the long-term stable operation of the pipeline system.
Pharmaceutical and food industry: In the pharmaceutical and food processing fields with extremely high requirements for hygiene and corrosion resistance, it is used for pipelines such as drug production and food transportation, which meets relevant hygiene standards and ensures product quality and safety.
Papermaking and printing and dyeing industry: In the pulping and papermaking process of the papermaking industry and the dyeing and finishing of the printing and dyeing industry, in the face of certain corrosive chemicals and humid environments, the F316 SO flange can work reliably and maintain the integrity of the pipeline system.
